Dentures

The main options to consider for missing tooth / teeth are either accepting the gap, Dental Bridges, Dental Implants or Partial / Full Dentures.

Dentures are a custom-fit removable plate with false teeth in place of any missing teeth and due to the functional and aesthetic designs of modern dentures, it makes it more comfortable to wear. In order for dentures to effectively restore function, comfort and aesthetics, their quality and fit must be of a high standard since poor quality / ill-fitting dentures can cause ulcers and irritation. Dentures can be constructed for partial dentures, if you have teeth remaining or full dentures if you have no natural teeth present.

Partial Dentures are aided by your natural teeth to keep them in place and can sometimes have small discrete clips or claps added for better retention, ensuring a secure fit so you can eat and talk with ease. Full upper dentures are held in place by suction from the palate and full lower dentures rely on the bony ridge.

When teeth are no longer present, the bone can resorb and this can result with the dentures not fitting properly. If this is the case, Implant Retained Dentures can be made which involves 4 dental implants being placed and clips are fastened into the implants which allow the dentures to attach and firmly hold the denture in its place, giving you the confidence to eat, drink and speak with ease and comfort.

We offer the latest designs for Dentures which are usually made from durable acrylic material. The following types of Dentures are available:

Acrylic – most cost-effective, both the false teeth and gum base are constructed of acrylic. The teeth are matched to the shade of your natural teeth and the base is gum shaded. Small metal clasps can be placed in discreet areas of the denture which clip onto selected existing teeth for partial dentures.

Cobalt Chrome – a strong metal, therefore allowing the frame to be thin, strong and robust, preventing breakages. The tooth / teeth are attached to the gum shaded acrylic. The framework can be slimmer and thinner than alternative dentures, making it comfortable to wear and aid retention. Clasps can also be attached to further aid retention for partial dentures.

Valplast Flexible - made of flexible material from the Nylon family and the false tooth/teeth are made of acrylic. The acrylic teeth and flexible base are both matched to your natural tooth and gum shades allowing the denture to blend in. The base is very thin as the denture base is strong and supple ensuring a snug fit and allowing it to move naturally with you.

Immediate - constructed prior to extracting a tooth or teeth so the denture can be placed immediately after the procedure. Immediate Dentures are usually a temporary restorative treatment whilst the extraction site/s are healing before proceeding with other restorative treatments.
